Getting a Permanent Job
Posted in Career Building
The coming of the holidays always has the reason to bolster its workforce even more. Christmas season suddenly becomes a recruitment hotbed for all sorts of industries. You may find that the need for more workers is not just in the retail sector as you would expect.
Because the end of the financial year immediately means that there are lots of things that people need to catch up to, it will also mean that more people will be needed for the companies to reach their target. You have sales people who are pressured to reach their quotas and accountants who work as hard in order to crunch the numbers that they get from all sorts of departments.
The marketing personnel are expected to come up with festive events which will promote the company one last time before the year ends and the colder weather will only mean more mechanical breakdowns which, in turn, will essentially mean more engineering jobs which will be up for grabs.
So how exactly does one take advantage of the sudden surge of job opportunities, especially if you are looking for permanent work? Simple. You make the most out of your current job by working at it with your whole heart and giving the boss an idea that you're in it for the long run.
Because most of the hired workers in the Christmas season will eventually get laid off after the holiday rush has died down, it will be prudent for one to simply show that they are good, honest, hard-working employees. When the company sees your value to them in the short term, they will ultimately see your potential as a long-term employee.
This process of finding a permanent job could start as early as the job interview. You could simply let them know some of the jobs that you've held on in the past. You could also ask some leading questions about how the company will be evaluating your performance and what potential there is for this temporary job in becoming a permanent one. There is a danger to this though. Be careful not to sound overly aggressive or desperate in getting this job because they may just decide to look elsewhere.
They key to getting a temporary job to become a permanent one is to simply show them that you are even better than the people who are now working for them in a permanent position. It's important that you show your employers that you are a hard worker. When it comes to evaluation time, it will all pay off.
