Going to college may not be as easy as you think. You have to consider not only the effort that you have to put into taking a four-year course but also the money that will be involved with it. Chances are, you would need to take out a college loan to help pay for your college tuition. Anything else to help pay your way to college that might help would always be welcome. Find a lower-tier college.
If you do not have the means to go to a prestigious institution, then you might need to go to a lower-tier college. They might be small and not as competitive as other bigger colleges, but they might also offer some advantages to you.
Aside from lower college tuition, such schools usually look for good and talented students to improve on their status. They also may have more accommodating rules when it comes to requirements. You may want to find a school where your SAT or ACT average might be considered as belonging to a higher bracket. This might give you other opportunities that you might find very welcome.
Search for colleges with co-op programs.
There are other colleges that also offer co-op programs for students. These programs require its students to participate in full-time work experiences as part of the curriculum. The schools usually assist students to find full-time work which usually also provides pay. The length of time spent on the full-time work not only would help accomplish school requirements but also help in paying a considerable part of the student's tuition.
Look for employer tuition assistance.
If you can't really afford going to college full-time, you might want to find some work. And if you do, there might be some employers who also offer tuition assistance for their employees. Some companies offer tuition assistance to employees who go to college and taking courses related to the job they do at the company. Some companies who also find it hard to look for good people encourage present employees to improve on education and usually off tuition assistance as a benefit.
