Help To Keep The Company Afloat
During times of economic recession, businesses and companies struggle to stay in the black. There are sacrifices to be made in order for them to stay afloat. If you find yourself still having a job this might sometimes mean that it may be time to think about benefits the company more than what you can benefit from it.
You should try to forget for awhile about not getting that bonus or incentive. Don't bother for yourself of not getting paid vacations. It is the time to help the company succeed during tough times and this might require some sacrifices on your part. Doing this might just help you avoid being laid off.
Be More Flexible
In tough times, the company you work for may require also more from their employees. It might help if you try to become more flexible and accept what management would add into your responsibilities. Become more open minded and see that the current situation may require a bit more flexibility in terms of getting things done.
Avoid Gossip
The current situation in your company may already be difficult as it is. You can further making it worse by listening and possibly contributing to gossip going around the office. With concerns and worries over the difficult situation surrounding the company, gossip is bound to spread and cause more worries. Try to avoid spreading them in order not to complicate the situation further.
Make "New" Friends
If you never even bothered to know other people in the office out of your department, now may be the time to change that. It can help you sometimes avoid getting laid off by getting to know some of the people in the human resources and finance departments in your company.
Try to establish better relations with them and try to add in a bit of self-promotion on your part. Making friends with them may help tem better perceive you and this small gesture might just help you keep your job.
