Effects of Office Stress
Posted in Health & Safety
Office stress can have quite an effect on your health. Too much of it can eventually lead you to further experience a decline on health and quality of life. Becoming overstressed can have a variety of effects which can be felt as current symptoms and not merely warning signals. Here are some of those signs that can tell you if you are getting overstressed at the office.
Frequent Headaches
Different jobs require different levels of responsibilities and therefore may offer different levels of stress. Some people may not necessarily notice it at once. The effect may happen gradually as long as the stress factors become a constant bother at work. One of the most common signs that you already may be overstressed is when you now begin to experience frequent headaches.
Sleeplessness
Many people find it hard to leave their work related concerns at the office. Many times, they might bring these concerns with them at home. There can be times when the stress can be so serious that it keeps them awake at night. People who may find themselves getting less and less sleep at night may sometimes be right to suspect job stress to be the reason.
Increased Fatigue
Another common effect of office stress is increased fatigue. Even if most office stress usually only involve the mental side of it, it can eventually cascade down to the other parts of the body. The brain can only take so much stress. Once it reaches its tipping point, the brain usually goes into survival mode. This process can sometimes cause feelings of fatigue which may increase until the stress that may be causing it is addressed.
Increased Anxiety
Too much office stress can also cause one to worry more than usual. It can lead to increased anxiety that can affect one mentally, emotionally and physically it would then lead to other things such as feelings of helplessness, irritability and dread. It then becomes a serious problem that might require professional help if the stress causing it is left alone for so long.
