Important Questions Nannies Should Ask

Posted in Interview Questions

Nannies looking for work may also need to ensure that their future employer would be someone that they can work with comfortably. These things can usually be sorted out during the personal job interviews. Aside from the questions that the possible employers may ask, the nannies themselves should have their own questions prepared in anticipation of the possible work they might get into. Here are some of the more important ones.

What are your expectations from me (as the nanny)?

Nannies need to know what responsibilities to expect before taking the job. Some employers expect more than just doing child care duties from the nanny while some may find child caring sufficient enough. By knowing the expected responsibilities ahead of time, nannies will be able to determine if the compensation is fair enough and if the responsibilities fall within their own capacity for the job.

What are my working hours as a nanny?

Different employers may have different requirements when it comes to the nanny's working hours. Some may define set hours for the nanny to follow while others accept flexible working hours. Nannies should also find out if weekend or night duties are required.

What is your discipline philosophy for your child?

Parents follow different methods to discipline their own children. Nannies would find this an important question since it will give them the proper guidance on how to discipline the child the way that parents would want to. This would ensure that both the nanny and the parents understand each other when it comes to child discipline or whether the nanny may have a direct responsibility to such a responsibility.

What other benefits does the job offer?

Aside from the usual benefits such as two weeks paid leave and sick leaves, some employers may also be offering additional benefits such as a mobile phone, health insurance or bonuses. It pays to know about these things that may help nanny's determine if the job is for them.
