Common Bad Speech Habits
Posted in Job Interview Tips
No matter how good a job applicant may be on paper, job interviews may give away some other more personal traits. Interviews can give away not only how a job applicant thinks, it might also give away certain bad speech habits that might also be a turn off among employers and hiring managers. Here are some of those common ones.
Use Of Filler Words
Many applicants may be guilty of using filler words such as "ah", "um", "you know" and the like. Although it may be perfectly normal to utter them now and then in interviews, some applicants just seem to use them before or after every sentence. This can tell a interviewer that an applicant may not have come prepared for the interview.
Grammatical Errors
Such errors in speech can seriously affect one's chances of getting hired. Grammatical errors in speech can easily show an applicant's educational level. This may affect how a hiring manager or employer may perceive an applicant's capacity and intelligence.
Speed Talking
Many job applicants may not be aware sometimes that they may already be talking too fast. Their anxiety and nervousness may get the better of them, causing them to talk too fast for comfort. This may lead to interviewers not being able to understand clearly what the applicant wants to bring out during the interview. This may affect one's chances of getting hired.
