Tips for Teen Interviewees
Posted in Job Interview Tips
Teen interviews should be carried out the way professional candidates for an employment would do. Despite the fact that teen interviews are merely for summer jobs, volunteer works and the like, it should not miss out on a certain level of professionalism that is needed to make an interview fruitful.
Here are some of the basic guidelines by which teens can prosper in interviews:
The Attire
Yes, the over-all look of the teen to be interviewed should have a look of professionalism in it. It is not enough to look neat and presentable. An appropriate attire for a teen interviewee should be simple. No loud colors and exaggerated hairstyles. No revealing outfits, either. Stick to a simple look. That's the best way to go about a teen's attire for an interview.
The Staged Interview
Practice makes perfect. Indeed. This is the rule of thumb when it comes to interviews. Prepare a set of questions that are likely to pop out during the interview proper and have a friend or a family member ask you these questions so that you can rehearse a little. You do not have to memorize anything, just make sure you are composed and confident upon facing the real interviewer.
The Right Attitude
The teen interviewee must not appear meek or too timid. Rather, he or she should practice the proper way walking and sitting. He or she should be trained to answer politely. Remember, manners are very important during interviews.
The Schedule
Punctuality is important. Be sure to come at least 30 minutes before the scheduled interview so that you have time to compose yourself before the interview proper. You will surely score some negative points from the interview if you come late.
The Thank You Note
Last but not the least, do not forget to show some courtesy to the interviewer. Keep in mind to thank him or her for making time to meet you by sending a note after the interview proper. An email will also do, if that's what you prefer.
Follow these steps and you'll surely reap the benefits of exerting much effort on your interview.
Good luck!
