Low Paying Jobs in United States

Posted in Job Market

In any job market, there are always different job options available. There can be low paying jobs aside from the high paying ones. And in the US, there can also be some jobs that many may consider low paying. Here are some of them:

Recreation Center Attendants

The job requires working with people and visitors in the amusement and recreation centers. It can sometimes get pretty stressful especially on weekends and holidays. But for the most part, it can be quite enjoyable. But then the pay may not be that good. Recreation and amusement center attendants usually get an average of $8.70 per hour, with average annual earnings of around $18,200.

Food Preparers, Servers, Fast Food Attendants

This is a common job for college students as well as those who are just starting out. The job may not be as easy as one might think. It can also be stressful and demanding, not to mention that the pressure can sometimes be overwhelming especially during rush hours. The pay averages around $8 an hour and at $16,700 annually. It is not a job that people should consider as a lifetime career. It can be a first time job for most and that's it.

Bartenders

Bartending can sometimes be looked upon as a great job. What can be difficult with serving people their drinks and having a chat with the bar folks to keep them entertained? It has been quite glorified by tom Cruise in movies such as "Cocktail" and television by Ted Danson in "Cheers". But for the most part, the pay for a bartender only averages around $9.50 per hour and pays around $19,740 each year.

Dishwashers

Dishwashers don't require a lot of training to do well. But there are also risks involved with the job. Plates can break and working with soap and water most of the time can also take its toll on the skin. It would be good if the job includes working with a dishwasher appliance of some sort to make the job easier. In other places, its all hands on. The pay averages around $8.20 and annually pays around $17,000.

Cashiers

Cashiers may seem to have an easy job just minding the shop at the grocery or supermarket counter. But it can also get pretty complicated and stressful especially when there are quite a number of customers checking out items. Handling money that's not yours may just make things hard, especially if the job pays only around $8.80 per hour and around $18,400 a year.
