Many Industries Still Hiring

With all the precautionary news about layoffs, price hikes and all in the US, there also arises problems regarding job searches. Yet despite all these, there are still jobs out there that continue to hire willing individuals.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has collected data concerning the industries that are still adding up jobs despite the recession. So if you think your profession falls under any of these industries, then there is no need to despair despite the rising unemployment rate.

Health care

The high retirement rate in the US makes health care in demand nowadays. This year, it has added up to 254,000 workers and still remains strong amid the recession. Hospitals have gained up to 92,700 positions and residential care facilities as well as nursing have grown up to 19,600 jobs.

Moreover, certain hospital services like ambulatory health care have experienced gains of up to 117,100 jobs. This also includes outpatient care centers, doctor's offices and home health services. In addition to this, social assistance and counseling centers have added up to 24,000 jobs.

Government

About 1.8 million civilian employees are being employed in the federal government. This year, it has added up to 46,000 jobs already. Also, there are about 32,000 jobs added in the state level, while about 88,000 positions for the local government.

The local government sector remains the strongest in this industry. Government staffing, on the other hand, has been reported to grow in certain specialized areas like border and transportations security, emergency preparedness, public health as well as information analysis.

Education

Regarding this industry, it has added more than 126,400 jobs in the first eight months this year alone. This is mainly due to the several factors affecting its growth. First, there is the requirement of having several preschool and kindergarten teachers.

Additionally, there is the need for special education teachers in the inclusion of the classroom for disabled students. ESL students and special education are in need of teachers assistants. Also, high school graduates are in need of updating their skills which calls forth on postsecondary teachers.

Gas and oil extraction and mining

Despite the 20 percent decline ten years ago, there have been labor growth of about 48,600 workers. Mining has increased jobs of up to 30,900 while 9,800 for oil and gas miners. The reasons behind all these are simple: new drilling technologies and techniques, reduction on the dependence of foreign oil, and oil exploration.

Business and professional services

Three sectors fall under this category: engineering, computer systems and consulting. All these experienced growth from the first seven months this year. There has been a great demand for biomedical, civil, industrial and environmental engineering.

Computer systems design and technology has added up to 34,300 jobs. Management and technical consulting has reached up to about 30,000 added jobs. And it is growing still due to the ongoing complexity of this industry.

Hospitality and leisure

This industry constitutes the food services and drinking places. This year it has added more than 57,000 workers. The same thing for performing arts and spectator sports. This year about 8,600 jobs have been added. In addition to this, more than 25 percent employers in this industry are going to expand their staff within the third quarter of this year alone.
