Posted in Job Promotion

Working for a good company might be good enough for many people. But there will come a time when seeking for a better position would come to mind. Employees would then be longing for a promotion that would offer them better wages and benefits. But landing that promotion at work will take more than just wishful thinking.

Landing a promotion can take more than just hard work. It may also take having the boss notice your work and your exemplary performance. This may take a bit of PR work on your part. Raising your visibility in the workplace can do a lot to help you land that promotion.

Self-Assessment Is Key

Before you make that move towards a promotion, you must first try to look into yourself to see that you really have what it takes. Self-assessment of your current skills and experiences would help you measure how qualified you will be for the promotion that you are targeting. An honest self-assessment can help you determine which aspects of the work you would still need to develop and improve in order to increase your chances of being promoted by virtue of your qualifications.

Accept Added Challenges

Landing a promotion can mean taking also added challenges. It might be a challenge that others would not bother doing. For someone looking at a possible promotion, it might be the right opportunity to showcase your skills and what you are capable of doing. Volunteering for such tasks would usually make your bosses easily notice you.

Be More Active During Meetings

Being visible at the workplace can also be made during office meetings and discussions. This would mean taking an active role during discussions and offering your own points of view on certain topics. It is not mainly talking for the sake of being noticed but also to offer your own ideas and how it may be able to help. This would usually require reviewing the meeting agenda and preparing your points beforehand.

Attend Office Gatherings

Office gatherings are usually held as a means to know people at work better. This also applies for your bosses who might go to such meet ups. It might be a wonderful opportunity for you to get noticed and talk with your bosses. It might also help you build new contacts within the office that you might value later on.
