Many believe it is a good way to land a job in a very tough job market.
Some believe that using out of the box job hunting tactics may help a lot. Some may dress themselves in unique costumes to capture attention. Some may consider bringing goodies to give to hiring managers during their personal interview.
Such unique approaches may truly capture instant attention, but the results may not necessarily be positive. It may work for some people and it may not. for others Job hunters are usually walking in a fine line when they do use some out of the box tactics. If you do consider going through such measures, here are some tips that might help you become more effective at it.
Be sure it's relevant to the job.
If you have a unique tactic in mind to use on your next meeting with the hiring manager, make sure that it is relevant to the job that you are trying to apply for.
Just going for the outrageous tactic in order to be unique can sometimes rub hiring managers the wrong way. They may not see the sense of what you might be doing. But if what you are doing may be seen as relevant to the job, then you have a good chance of making a better impression with them.
Don't go overboard.
Make sure that you stay within the limits of decency or good manners whenever you want to do something out of the box in order to stand out. There is always a fine line between being different and unique and being branded as crazy and weird. Grabbing attention is quite different than trying to make a joke out of yourself.
Bear in mind that unique tactics may land you the interview, but not the job.
