False Job Security
Some people make the mistake of being too secure at their current jobs. They seem to think that they no longer need to look for another one ever again. But in times where the economy is suffering and in recession, no job can actually be safe. For those who felt too secure with their jobs and find themselves surprisingly on the unemployment line, it may become a difficult task trying to find other job opportunities.
Bad Contact Information
This might be a small issue for some people, but it may be all that will matter between a new job and a missed opportunity. Some people may neglect checking their job resumes and updating their contact information. Some may simply send them away to companies and hope for the best. What they forgot to consider is that the companies may be calling on a discontinued phone number or sending replies to a past address. What the job searcher may mistake as a tight job market may simply be just a case of having bad contact information on the job resume.
Burning Bridges
Many people never bother to build up their relationships with people that they have worked with in the past. Some even part or leave their jobs on a bad note. This can be a big mistake once you find yourself looking for a job. Because you have burned your bridges along the way, you may have fewer colleagues to help you find what opportunities that might still be available out there. Always consider building a network of friends and colleagues as a valuable resource. There are many instances where you might find yourself depending on them in the future.
