Unique Job Search Techniques

With a tightening job market, it takes more effort from job applicants to look for job opportunities and eventually land them. It is during such circumstances where unique ways of job searching may be necessary in order to find opportunities in a tight job market. Here are some of them:

Seek Company Meet Ups and Fairs

One way for a job searcher to find job vacancies where others may not usually go to is on company meet ups and fairs. It can be a good way for a job applicant to introduce himself and what he can provide for the company.

Even lengthy introductions are not necessary in such situations. Passing along one's resume may already be good enough. The key is by trying to be friendly and make a good impression in an informal setting.

Check Community Or Public Billboards

If the job classifieds may not have enough openings that job applicants can check out, there are also other venues such as community or public billboards that may be posting possible job openings or vacancies.

Some employers may not have the time to place an ad on the local newspaper for a job vacancy. Community bulletins may offer them an alternative way to post job ads at no cost. It is a simple yet unique means of searching for local job vacancies aside from the job classifieds in newspapers that one may consider checking out once in a while.

Use Any Available Network

When jobs become scarce, it pays to have friends and people who may help refer any available vacancies they might know about. It may help a lot to make any social network move in to help look for any job vacancies available.

It can really open doors for some job searchers towards opportunities not usually offered in the general job market. These opportunities are hard to come by without having an extensive network of friends and colleagues who can help look out for them through their own networks.
