How to Increase Your Productivity at Work
Posted in Management & Leadership
We are productive when we are able to accomplish what we need to do and exceed what is expected from us. No phone messages, email notifications, personal problems, multiple web browsers and websites can stop us from achieving what we are suppose to achieve by the end of the day and more.
All of us want to be successful in our everyday task. However, as a human being we tend to lose our of focus, drive for work and excellence due to several reasons. Consistency therefore is the challenge that each and every worker has to face and conquer. Good is not enough but great.
Ways for us to be consistently productive:
Know your Priorities.
Knowing your priorities is not just a matter of knowing what is important. It is a matter of devoting yourself on affairs that needs to be dealt with in order for you to be on the pedestal that you want to be in. What is your Ambition? What do you want and have to achieve by the end of the day? Being aware with important matters at all times creates an invisible checklist or rather guide which makes us look forward in producing good results.
Be Aware of the Deadlines. No Cramming.
Awareness with deadlines alerts us that there is no room for slacking off or rather encourages us to work harder and faster for us not to be pilled up with assignments. This allows us to pass quality work at the right time or better, earlier than it is expected to be received.
Work Systematically.
Decide on which assignments do you want to work on first. It is advised to work on tasks that are easier to accomplish. Doing so enables us to spend more time on more complex matters and at the same time ensures the quality of our work as proper time management prevents us from cramming. There will be more room for correcting, avoiding errors.
Separate Personal Problems with Work.
Draw a line between your life outside workplace and your career. Personal problems maybe frustrating but nor matter how bad it maybe we must all leave it outside the door of our work place. Thinking too much about your family problems and others not related to your work while you are working may affect your productivity or worse, the quality of your work. To do this, we must not forget to look at the basic realities in life.
- Your problem will not go away no matter how many times you will think about it while at work.
- You career gives you the self fulfillment that no body can take away from you so never let any distraction take your self fulfillment away from you.
- There are no problems that cannot be solve. Hence, do what you have to do when you are at your work place and take care of your own problems once done with your tasks for the day.
Do things one at a time with the proper pacing. There will be no room for too much pressure and cramming when everything is done in at the right time.
