Ways to Use Business Card to Network
Posted in Networking Tips
Whether you are attending a networking event or simply meeting a client for the first time, presenting your business card is a great way of introducing yourself to other people in the industry. Here are some ways of presenting your business card during networking.
Present your card with both hands
Hand out your business card using both hands. It creates an enormous psychological impact towards your client-that you deserve to be taken seriously-and it looks professional as well. Do not just flick your business card as it may be interpreted as you are taking your career for granted.
Ask for the client's card first
Some clients may find it too cocky if you present your business card right away. It would be best to ask for your client's business card first before giving out your own. In fact, ask for two or more business cards from your client, and tell them that you want extra to distribute to people you know.
Use your business card as an introduction
Hand your card to the receptionist over at the doctor's office if you are visiting the clinic for the first time. You could also give your card to the restaurant's manager, the technician at the auto repair shop; basically anyone whom you think may know people who need your products or service.
Include your card in all correspondence
Attach your business card when returning rented goods, or if possible if you are faxing a letter to a first time client.
