Writing Accomplishments On Your Resume

Writing your job resume, especially an effective one, takes time to prepare. Careful thought and planning is needed to make sure that your job resume may be able to get the attention of the hiring manager or employer. A good part where the hiring managers would especially be looking at would be that portion where you cite your experiences and accomplishments.

Nothing can capture the attention of the hiring manager more than an applicant's work experience. But more than that, most hiring managers specifically try to take a look at your accomplishments as a means to solidify their belief that you might just be the right person for the job. Therefore, effectively "selling" your accomplishments through your job resume would likely help increase your chances of getting that job.

A good way to enhance your resume is to highlight your accomplishments in a way that employers and managers would notice. This might be an effective selling point in terms of having them interested in what you can accomplish and do for their company. But the sad thing is that not all job applicants have done their best to "sell" what they can do for the company be means of their past accomplishments.

There is actually a simple way of trying to capture attention by highlighting your accomplishments. Simply listing them up would not do as well. You have to present them in such a way that would make hiring managers and employers clearly see your capabilities. This can be done through a Problem-Action-Effect method.

The Problem-Action-Effect method of writing your accomplishments sounds simple enough to do on your resume. It's just an unfortunate thing that many job applicants never bother with it. This method can be done by first presenting the problem or challenge that you may have experienced on your previous work experiences. Try to state what the problems are clearly so that readers would be able to understand what the actual challenge would be.

After presenting the problem, you now need to state the actions that you have done in order to resolve or address the problem. Cite the things that you have personally undertaken concerning the issues involved. The more specific you are on the tasks, the better. But try to be honest and not just cite certain tasks that you have not actually done just for the sake of making a good impression.

After writing the actions, you would need to also cite how those may have affected the challenge or stated problem. Focus on the effects and the results of your actions related to the problem. This would give a whole new level of understanding to your accomplishments rather than by just listing them up one by one.
