In organizations, there are many people who always want to live in the comfortable side of life. They always want to be surrounded by people who do not disagree with them. They want people whose way of thinking is the same as theirs in order to avoid opinions that will contradict theirs.
Companies favor those who always agree with them, so do the managers. They do not want any dissenting ideas in their organizations. And that causes the companies and their companies to fail. So it is best that we learn how to disagree without being disagreeable.
Everything starts from top to bottom
A company has to have its own visions. It starts from having a dream for the company. In creating such a dream, there should be ideas and plans, and individuals within the company must share any of these so they can all act as a team. However, castigating one's suggestions can lead to fear or antipathy. This will be one of the main determinants to a company's downfall.
Being open to debates and dissenting opinions
If you think you are a good manager and are always open to your subordinates' suggestions, you also have to be aware of the fact whether you are a good subordinate to your boss as well. You must also know how to stand up to your boss. Agreeing to all the things your boss suggests may allow you to keep your job. But it will not be for long.
As managers, you have to know how to disagree with them. It is an integral part of being honest and responsible. A good organizational interaction is not always about agreeing. Disagreeing has a sense of professionalism in it. Fighting for what you think is right has its own rewards, it may cost you your job. On the other hand, you may also earn some respect for it.
To disagree in a professional level
Even though you are on the right position and you fought hard on what you believe is right, there are chances that you may not win. Accept it professionally. Overdoing it will only lead to ruin. You just have to consider what are the things involved. Being careful and doing things professionally will help you become agreeable despite your being disagreeable.
How to manage such an issue?
Create a company culture where opinions may differ. Allowing yourself to be surrounded by individuals who are afraid to provide different perspectives will not promote different ideas or suggestions.
A company of different people having different perspectives will help your department or organization be more dynamic, creative and original when it comes to decision-making processes.
