The first thing that you should remember about getting to the top is that you should choose your projects very wisely. Don't be content to work on a project where you won't be noticed. Avoid Succumbing to Fear
It's quite important that you do not let fear take over you and your potential. It has been said that nothing stifles the entrepreneurial spirit faster than fear. This is easily remedied by getting into the habit of trying out new ideas and expressly proposing them to upper management.
There are of course risks whenever you do this. It may manifest in your suggestions being rejected but the upside to it is that people up at the top will realize that you are trying to help and that you are also in the game when it comes to solving a particular dilemma. It is important that you are able to fully grasp what is happening with regard to the situation so that you will be able to honestly assess what other steps you could take in seeing a project to completion much faster or getting the surplus in your inventory off your boss's back.
And when you do have a suggestion, don't shy away from the opportunity and just take it. Prepare, dive in, be confident and say it like you believe in it. Once you are able to overcome your fear, you might just be one step closer to being promoted.
