Working with annoying office workers can be something that can't be avoided. Every workplace may have its own resident annoying co-worker that seems to get into everybody's nerves. Despite all the irritation, it takes patience and a bit of levelheadedness to effectively handle an annoying co-worker and still stay sane while working with one.

Find The Reason

There are always reasons why some co-workers tend to become annoying and irritating. And it may not usually be because of the co-worker in a personal sense. There are times when annoying behavior can come as a result of the people around him or her.

It might be important to look for the reason why a certain co-worker may be displaying annoying behavior to others. Some reasons may be because of your own doing. If it is something that you can do something about, then doing something to resolve it would sometimes help get rid of some annoying behavior.

Stay Away

It the reason for a co-worker's annoying behavior is not something of your own doing, then the reason may lie on the person. It is not something that you may be able to resolve. Initially the best way is to try and stay away from the annoying co-worker as often as possible.

Try to stay out of harm's way once you find yourself on the brink of being annoyed. Go some place at the office where you can have some privacy and to get your head clear. Its the very least that you can do in order to avoid being affected.

Confront The Co-worker

If evasion seems to be difficult to do with an annoying co-worker around, then the next thing that you should do is to confront the perpetrator. But you would need to do this in a calm manner so as not to build up tension.

The aim is to let the annoying co-worker know that you are getting distracted and annoyed by his or her behavior. It might also do a lot of help if you have a suggestion or two on how this can be resolved in the least damaging way possible.

Go To The Boss

If the annoying co-worker resists any means to change for the better ans still continues to annoy you and other co-workers, then the last resort is to bring the issue to the boss.

Make sure that you have prepared beforehand how to make the proper approach in telling the boss about the annoying co-worker, what you have done so far about it and how it continues to affect your work performance at the office.

The boss would appreciate it if you have approached the issue more calmly than trying to stir up trouble when dealing with the annoying co-worker.
