Types of Workplace Rudeness

Workplace rudeness may be part of the daily happenings in your office. Some people may be guilty of doing it without ever noticing. One way of avoiding it is by knowing the different types of behavior that might be considered as being rude. Here are some of them.

Interrupting During Conversations

This is a common trait among many employees that might constitute as rudeness if done all too often. Making frequent interruptions while others are talking or discussing something may come out as rude, especially if it becomes a habit. Try to let others finish speaking before talking yourself to avoid this type of workplace rudeness.

Using Foul Language

Another common type of workplace rudeness is using foul language at the office. It becomes quite a problem since office interaction can be quite testy. Some terms may be considered as normal by some people while others may already consider it as foul. It pays to know which common words may be considered foul and then make an effort to use in in everyday workplace interactions. This can help a lot in trying to avoid certain workplace tensions and the stress that may come with it.

Not Saying "Please" and "Thank You"

These simple words can make working at the office all the more enjoyable and fulfilling. But the problem is that it is not being used too often in most of today's offices. It seems that more and more people at the office have become quite insensitive as to forget saying "Please" when they ask of something from co-workers and "Thank You" when showing some gratitude. Not saying enough of such words at the office can brand you as being rude.

Talking Too Loudly

It seems that many people may be guilty of this rude behavior at the office. Talking loudly can easily disrupt the work environment and cause other employees to lose focus. Your co-workers may need a little peace and quiet while trying to beat their deadlines. Talking loudly to someone in your cubicle while on speaker phone may not be doing you and your officemates any good as it would be considered as rude behavior. Try to answer the phone the old fashioned way by speaking directly through the receiver. You can also do it in a more modern way by investing on a headset.
